Can overclocking damage the PCI-e slot? If so, are there any ways to fix it or confirm that’s where the damage was done?Īs always, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. The gpu is not the problem because I’ve tried two GPUs that work fine on other computers but both cause the same problem on this computer. The cpu looks like new and since cpus have longer life span than motherboards I think it is perfectly fine. When I run of integrated graphics the are no problems whatsoever.
Problems only start happening when a graphics card is plugged in. I’m leaning towards the motherboard because of a few things: Ive decided that It is either the motherboard or the CPU that’s giving me issues.
So after a lot of forum posts and many hours troubleshooting, I have come to the source of a problem I was having. Ever since then I’ve had the issue of windows freezing and becoming completely unresponsive to input. After running some benchmarks I decided the overclock didn’t do much so I reset everything to defaults. Last week I decided to try overclocking for the first time.
